MSA Definitions Module Introduction
Module 2 provides the building blocks for the rest of the course. Here, we discuss why MSA is so important and why it’s a pre-requisite for using other quantitative methods to support decision making. We describe how the measurement process is like any other process which is subject to variation that must be understood and controlled. We provide brief review of basic statistics that will be used throughout the course. This module defines several measurement systems characteristics that will be assessed using the methods covered in this course such as accuracy, precision, linearity, and discrimination. We introduce the common metrics that are used to assess precision as part of a Gage R&R study.
