Keith Fong

Keith Fong helps organizations become more powerful through training and deploying quality and continuous improvement methods. He develops custom training with an eye to creating customer training self-sufficiency. He also coaches and leads problem-solving and continuous improvement projects.

Keith started his career in product design, first designing waste gas flare systems for the petrochemical industry and then in the automotive industry designing anti-lock brake system solenoid valves. In his automotive work, he became certified as a Robust Engineering Coach, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Shainin Red X Master.

A desire to share and teach quality tools to produce better product designs and production processes led to becoming an internal consultant at his Tier 1 automotive supplier employer for 20 years. He led project teams, coached individuals and teams, and developed and taught courses for a range of quality and continuous improvement topics.

Keith worked with customers, suppliers, and internal groups across multiple product lines and all regions in the world. Implementing the various continuous improvement methods and tools led to encountering and overcoming many shortcomings in quality tools and their deployments. This experience informs the “Way of the Quality Warrior” podcast and his consulting services.

Keith is the host of the podcast Way of the Quality Warrior.

The Way of the Quality Warrior podcast is about becoming powerful at the function of Quality—revealing the true current state and envisioning the desired future state. The underlying paradigms and contexts for practicing Quality and using quality tools are discussed. It is common for quality tools to be used with only the most superficial understanding of their purpose and the larger organizational aims and philosophies. Topics of the podcast range from what we fight as Quality Warriors to psychology to paradigms and assumptions encountered in work to talking about certain tools and their appropriate usage.
